1.25 million

The night before last, I hit the 1.25M mark on my Flickr account; 1.25 million views.  I had a lot to say about it, however, it’s just a number.  I would like to say that it would be nice to reach 3 million views by year end, 2009.  Since the Fall of last year, I’ve become somewhat less active on Flickr.  Subsequently, I get about 2-3,000 views a day (where I was seeing numbers of 5-10,000 views a day prior); that number is dependent on any number of factors.  A friend asked me after I hit the million mark what my goal was now.  I hadn’t really considered it then.

My goal is to hit 3 million before December 31, 2009.  :)

News, Hotel Victor photos

Photos of SoBe Darlings’ models at last week’s grand opening of the Ice Bar at Hotel Victor are now up in the Sobe Darlings section of ipanemic.  I was keeping the photos of SoBe Darlings under the Street +/ Life gallery but that really didn’t make much sense.  And with the lingerie shoots, the other events, and more and more photos, I want to keep the site clean and organized and everything in it’s place.  :)

All photos related to SoBe Darlings will now be found at http://sobedarlings.ipanemic.com.  The navigation menu on the main section of ipanemic will reflect that properly.

I am still moving some photos over from Street +/ Life but that should be done this evening.  But don’t forget to check out the photos from Hotel Victor!  (Oh, some of the photos I take during the course of the night aren’t necessarily event related or may have just struck me.  I’ll probably be throwing them in that section as well, even though for now, I’m throwing them in Street +/ Life.)

Videos, new and improved

VideosYou’ll notice that the videos of Ava Addams and Christie are now working again. And you’ll notice the quality is much nicer.  :)

Since I started shooting model videos, compression, upload, storage, and a myriad of little technical details have been overwhelming at times.  I’ve now found a solution  that I’m REALLY, really pleased with and I think you will be, too. The compression isn’t too harsh plus their full-screen view is most, most excellent.

Check out the Ava Addams and the Christie L’amour video here. I’ll be moving all of the videos into this new format.

Also, I should have two new videos up later this week.  :)

Shooting fashion on the street

Girl on a bike, no. 372A bit of news… I’ve started shooting street fashion for the website Oligoville.com, a website/social network catering to fashion and music. Toward the latter part of last year, I was contacted about being one of their photographers for a new section they were launching, “Street Style.”  This new section would highlight what people are wearing on the street in metropolises across the US; I would be covering Miami for them.

Awesome!  Since I’m always shooting street photography in South Beach anyway and have been taking random portraits for a while now, taking dedicated street fashion shots for Oligoville.com was a no-brainer for me.

I’m really hoping to expand out what I can shoot on the fly and get more unconventional photos. So far, the shots have been pretty timid, with very standard poses. Of course, I’m stopping random people on the street, eating into their time when I ask them for a shot, so it’s not like I can say, “Ok, give me more pouty face and place your left hand lower on your hip!  Ok, hold that!” Still, I hope I can get some good raw shots.

Funny side note: two of the people I stopped on the street… I saw them from a distance and said, “Oh, I have to stop them,” and when I got close I realized I knew them! Style.  They has it.

Anyway, with this new gig, I’m actually on the street more these days than I’ve been in a while so in addition to the portraits here and there, expect to see more street photography. I’m backlogged about 10 days on photos that I need to get up.

All of the photos I take for Oligoville.com should be posted on the their site not TOO long after I take them.  I’ll also have them here under the Street Portraits section; the only difference between these shots and the normal street portraits I take are that these shots will link over to their site and be tagged with oligoville.com.  Hope you like them.  :)

Thanks to everyone so far who has stopped to pose!

Roommate

A couple of weeks back, I ran an ad stating that I was looking for a roommate. I mentioned in the ad that the person would have to be comfortable with the fact that models would sometimes be here for nude shoots. I got a lot of responses, all very varied.

I wasn’t overly convinced I wanted a roommate, but then, as luck would have it, one of the models I had previously shot (and a good friend) and I were having a conversation. She moves in this weekend.

Words can’t describe how elated I am.

SoBe Darlings take over the Nash Hotel

091742Yesterday, I was at the Nash Hotel on Collins Ave, doing a poolside lingerie shoot with six of SoBe Darlings’ models. Some amazing shots came out of it which I’m still working through and hope to have complete in the next 24 hours. (The video is going to be awesome!!!) With three outfit changes per model, various group shots, makeup artists working feverishly, the shoot ran well into the night.

I’d just like to add a note here….SoBe Darlings models? Yes, I am their photographer so I may have a bias, but my god. Absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous girls and a complete joy to work with, each and every one. Friendly to the core, not an ounce of pretentiousness, very down-to-earth. Like I said, a complete joy. Oh, and did I mention gorgeous? :)
