Massive update
I’ve added almost 150 photos in the past 24 hours to the Street +/ Life gallery. I’m less than a week behind now on street photos since going through photos from January (a few days skipped) through March 23rd. Woohoo! I’m nearly caught up.
The photos are all over the place, including photos of promo girls + drummers, homeless people, exotic cars, misspelled(sp?) grafitti, bicycle locks, speedy tourists, and even bridges in Dania and Hollywood. (Yeah, I’ve been doing some traveling on my scooter.) I was hoping to get completely caught up on the street photos before the weekend was out, but I still have roughly 1,000 photos to go through from the past week. I’m hoping to finish those in the next day or two, time permitting.
In any event, check the Street +/ Life gallery for the updates.
Blistered in the sun
I want you to know how much I suffer for you. It’s important that you know. You being, of course, anonymous person I don’t know. In the past two weeks, I’ve laid my wintery butt on the beach three, four, maybe five times. Each time I’ve laid out, I’ve gotten burned. Burned like a frickin’ tourist. Today was the worst of it. I think today, I got the worst sunburn of my life. I wish I could say that was me being overly dramatic, however, it’s not.
I learned something today, though. There’s a maximum redness level to my nose. Whenever I get sunburned, my nose is the first thing to turn red. Deep unbearably embarrassing red. I always assumed it could go deeper in shades. Not so. The rest of my face got that deep level of red today. It’s actually painful enough that I found myself humming that “Solarcaine stops sunburn pain when someone you love is hurting” jingle from back in the day. Mmmmm. Solarcaine. God, I wish I had some of that right now. I’m kind of avoiding going to sleep because I know it’s going to be a miserable sleep, although, I’m extra tired, so with any luck, I’ll just pass out.
Oh. Suffering. And how I do it for you. After laying out today under blue skies in the sexy part of South Beach (because yeah, I fit in there), I went out on the street to where a lot of the WMC traffic was and took some photos, knowing I was already sunburned. I could feel my skin burning as I kneeled at the corner, leaned against light poles, and sat on the hot leather seat of my scooter. Yet, there I was taking more photos. See that? Suffering for my art. Suffering so that I can deliver everyday photos of everyday things. I’ve actually already gone through them and will try to get them up tomorrow. I’m just working on doing some other things first.
Oh. By the way… Since I’m bringing text back to the site, I’m trying to figure out how to work this site so that it makes sense. The text obviously needs to be here. For my sake, not yours.
But the photographs are what people come to see; the stats were overwhelming before as to what areas of the site were of more interest to visitors. So the site might be magoo-ish for a while. Not sure. But everything’s here, at least. I just need to tidy up.
News and updates and more!
So after giving this whole endeavor much thought, I’ve decided that my text blog will be coming back to the site. Deja vu? Yes. My god, it sucks to change your mind as frequently as I do. However, this is really the only way I can do things. I tried running my personal blog on another site and it just didn’t sit well with me. So over the next few days as time permits, I’ll be incorporating the textual portion of my life back into the site. That will make Scott happeh once more. That’s all it takes.
In other news… there are new photos in both The Model Shoots and in the Street +/ Life galleries. I’ll be putting more updates up hopefully later tonight. Also, the artwork for sale link at the top o’ this page has some sample framed photos and prints that are available for purchase.

So I trust this settles the matter
Street +/ Life update
I’ve added 30+ photos to the Street +/ Life gallery, and I’m sad to say, most of them are from Art Deco Weekend in South Beach. Yeah, Art Deco weekend that happened on January 17th, nearly two months ago. While I wasn’t exactly timely in getting the photos up, there are still some good shots from the day. Video recap, Life Is Art
Not my most brilliant moment: an eight hour show and I take one hour-long mini-dv cassette to record the event. Well done, Scott. However, the video does give a glimpse of the venue, the art, the peoples, and my work on display. I wish I could’ve compiled a video simply of reactions. To me, that was one of the more interesting aspects of the show; at least in my little corner. During the show, I had a permanent slideshow going on my Mac and it was interesting to watch the occasional person stand around and stare at it before eventually walking away. People are interesting.

Inside all day
My god, today was beautiful. Gorgeous! And I was inside all day. Didn’t even take my scooter anywhere. I did wash it, though. Which took all of three minutes. So I was outside for three minutes, I guess.
I’m restless. I’ve had four large cafe con leches and three or four glasses of milk. I’m dying to get outside but I can’t because I’m trying to finish something up. It’s still light out, too! Damnit, damnit, damnit!
I have to redesign a site and I’m so not in the mood for it tonight. I need to catch up on street life photos once and for all. It drives me nuts to go out with my camera now, knowing that with each photo I take, I’m that many more behind. I need to just finish that. I actually need to finish the book, too. I wanted to finish that this week. Maybe I’ll work on those things tonight.
But for now…. god, hurry up you stupid laptop! Finish compressing the stupid movie so I can get out of here! AUUUUGHHH!
Street legal!!!
Oh yeah. I’m a badass. I got my tag today for my scooter. So with license in hand, tag and registration firmly in their proper places, you KNOW I’m all over this town on my scooter.
Actually, my first adventure took me over to Biscayne Blvd for a shoot over there. But now that I’m home? I’m hopping on my Sa-WEET ride and going down to Walgreen’s for some cigarettes and… well, who KNOWS what else I can find!?!?!
Last night, as I was leaving Walgreens, beginning to head the six walking blocks back home, one of the usuals I speak to asked me where my scooter was. I explained the story. Now, I don’t have to do any ‘splainin’, Lucy! I’m back, baby!
Happy days are here again!
