I.
Welcome to the new ipanemic.com.
The skies are sunny and blue.
Slight chance of afternoon showers.
But mostly sunny and blue!
The Flat Earth
Not long ago, I began this process of cleaning up ipanemic to make the site consistent and more cohesive. I began to implement some features that match where I am and what I want to do with this site. A good bit of that work has happened behind-the-scenes. Now that I’ve reached a point where things make sense with me and I’m standing underneath the light at the end of the tunnel, I’m flipping the main breaker so everyone can see.
“Why weren’t there lights all along,” he wonders.
The other sections of the site are not yet ready. However, the entire site will run in this familiar pattern throughout when construction is complete. Think of this like that garage on Lincoln Road that you walk by. The one that was under construction for so long. That’s ipanemic.com right now.
“Yes, yes. This will do nicely.” Dressed in one of my nicer tweed suits, I nod approvingly with a gleam in my eye and a yellow hardhat atop my head. It’s apparently 1978.
I have a few large features I want to implement still (and a number of small ones), glitches I need to work out and I can do this now with the foundation in place.
II.
Since this site’s inception, and for different reasons, there has been this question that I’ve been asked repeatedly. “What is ipanemic?” Or, “what does that mean?” “Ipanema?”
From even my closest friends: “I go to ipanemic and I don’t know what’s going on.”
Completely understandable.
And now I can happily say that what you see here is what will be. It fits perfectly with what I want to do. And as I address the question of what this is and, more importantly where this is going, my intentions will become crystal clear. And I think you’ll like what you see.
“Alright. Still has those social media links at the top. Did he ever mention those? Homelessness seems pretty prominently displayed at the top. Magazine format looks good here. Is he going to have featured articles? Guest columnists? Stuff still looks split up. Wow, cool. Notable Links still there. Girls of Ipanemic? Well that’s different. I wonder why… Ah. Yes. Ah. I see about the layout. I hope he doesn’t play music throughout. Oh good, he doesn’t?”
Just giving you some self-conversation starters when you’re mulling it over in your mind.
So this is my new interface with you. This is my new format, my new language.
