Wedding Photographer, For Hire, For Free

The bouquet, no. 332

So a good friend of mine who does wedding photography has been encouraging me for quite some time to get into wedding photography. Primarily for two reasons: 1) she thinks I would be amazing at it, and 2) I would truly enjoy it because it’s an opportunity to take personal photos and videos of people that they are going to hold onto and cherish.

Cherish. I hate that word. What does the thesaurus have for me? Gotta be something better than that. Let’s see… appreciate, prize, treasure, value… Oh, blech. This is going nowhere. Ugh. “Cherished Moments Photography.” Yick.

In any event, I finally promised her that I would take steps to pursue this. So here I am. And I really am excited about the idea of shooting someone’s wedding. Capturing that one perfect moment in time…. freeze-framing it. Getting that smile. That look of adoration in the couple’s eyes. The happiness in the family. The exhaustion of a ten year old. That small child in his suit. The little flower girl. The couple off to the side. The grandparents. The distant cousin. Moments with the special guest. The priest, the rabbi, the organist, the DJ. The church bells. The grass. The punch, the wine, the cake. The first dance. The first kiss. The “I Do.” Yeah, I love the concept of shooting it.

Granted, if you’re familiar with my work at all, then you know I don’t shoot wedding photography. Unless you count this. Or this. But you really shouldn’t. Because those two sets were very specific sets with very specific looks that aren’t really wedding-y or bride-y. (Though if marrying in combat boots or lingerie is your thing, then sure, you know, whatever. Great. I’ll shoot it.)

Soooooo. Yeah. I’ll shoot your wedding. For free. Need details like how many hours you get with that price of free and what I will provide with my services? (Don’t worry, I’m not going to shortchange you on hours or anything. It’s likely I’ll want to shoot as much as I can for as long as I can just for the experience. This will probably be one of the few instances you’re likely to encounter where the old adage “you get what you pay for” does not apply.)

Inquire within if you’re seriously interested. Glowing professional and personal references available upon request. Feel free to pass this service offering around. To every single person you know.

Oh. To note: this would be a limited time offer, extending to the first two weddings I book.
